Our Commitment
Dear Therapy™ Inc.
Dear Therapy™ was founded at the height of the pandemic and the rise of the Anti-Asian Hate movement. It was during this intensified tension of social unrest and the growing need for mental wellness spaces that Dear Therapy adapted its name and slogan – “Come As You Are, Hold Yourself DEAR” – a fierce commitment to self-love at the ever-evolving intersection of individualism and collectivism.
At Dear Therapy™, we acknowledge the following:
1.Therapy has long been associated with the medical model. Our restorative, liberation health, and anti-oppressive therapeutic model views the treatment and healing of the individual beyond their clinical symptoms; one’s mental health and wellness are impacted by the social, financial, spiritual, and political environment at the macro, meso, and clinical levels.
2.The recent political environment has devastatingly heightened the mental tension and safety of historically marginalized and underserved communities in need of tender care, AANHPI, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and immigrant communities.
3.Clients of all backgrounds, regardless of various diverse views and identities, are welcomed at Dear Therapy. Our clinicians are committed to ensuring that your mental health and wellness are our utmost priority. We practice a client-centered, humanistic, and holistic approach in therapy. The Dear Therapy space exists because of you.
4.We’re more than a clinical team. We are community leaders, educators, artists, advocates, social justice practitioners, healers, and relentless and fierce believers in the power of self-love, individually and collectively, that can lead to a more inclusive, equitable, and diverse interpersonal, communal, and societal space for all.
In a recent online publication in April of 2025, the President of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, Dr. Cynthia Jackson-Hammond, shared that
“Many are finding ways to continue fostering inclusive environments, ensuring that students from all backgrounds feel a sense of belonging. The reality is that diversity, equity, and inclusion are not about granting special privileges to select groups; it is about leveling the playing field for all individuals, regardless of race, class, religion, gender, or ability.”
At Dear Therapy Inc., we uphold the principles of providing an inclusive, safe, and healing space for our clients, you, regardless of your backgrounds and diverse views.
We also align with Dr. Cynthia Jackson-Hammond, who stated:
“While no single entity can mandate how institutions approach these valuable constructs, it is our collective responsibility to educate, discuss, and advocate for policies that reflect the ideas of a fair and just society.”
If you ever feel alone, silenced, or unseen in your existence as you navigate the world with your respective identities, we see you, we hear you, and we are made with you in mind.
Sincerely,
Dear Therapy team
