Hold Yourself Dear, You Deserve to Take Up Space

At Dear Therapy™, we believe you are worthy of being fully seen, deeply heard, and gently supported, especially if you've ever felt invisible in traditional spaces. Rooted in a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally sensitive approach, our work honors the full complexity of your lived experience.

As Asian American mental health clinicians, we understand the quiet weight of navigating multiple identities, languages, and generations. Whether you’re sorting through family expectations, healing generational wounds, or simply learning how to come home to yourself, we’re here to
walk with you.

Our Approach

Holding space for all of who you are

Therapy at Dear Therapy is not just about fixing what feels broken. It’s about gently uncovering the stories that shaped you, making sense of your inner world, and reconnecting with the parts of yourself that have been waiting to be heard.

We practice with a relational, trauma-informed, and culturally grounded lens. That means we pay close attention to the systems you live in, the identities you hold, and the histories you carry. Whether you’re navigating generational conflict, burnout, grief, or the quiet question of "Who am I allowed to be?", our space is here to meet you with care, curiosity, and respect.

You don't need to over-explain yourself here. If you’ve been yearning for a space that speaks your language—literally and emotionally—you’re not alone. We welcome your queerness, your neurodivergence, your questions around faith and identity, your cultural complexities, and your dreams for something more.

Our goal is not just to help you feel better. It’s to help you feel more like yourself. We’re here to support lasting, meaningful transformation that honors where you come from and empowers where you’re going.

This is your space to slow down, reflect, and rebuild. Together, we’ll work toward healing that feels not only possible but deeply yours.

Multilingual, immigrant-rooted, and deeply community-led, Yanyi is a Chinese-speaking mental health clinician and educator with years of experience supporting Asian American and Pacific Islander clients.

Areas of Expertise

Our team of highly trained clinicians specializes in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally responsive care. Many of us identify as Asian American or immigrants, bringing lived experience and clinical expertise to support you across cultures, generations, and identities. We work with racial identity, intergenerational tension, and mental health within Asian and BIPOC communities—drawing from EMDR, somatic approaches, and psychodynamic therapy.

Our Process,
What to Expect

We know that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you’ve never seen someone who looks like you in a therapist’s chair.
That’s why we’ve created a gentle, intentional three-step process designed to support you every step of the way:

We begin by building trust. Your first few sessions will focus on creating a safe space, identifying your needs, and co-creating goals with your therapist. You’ll be equipped with tools and resources to help manage symptoms and begin your self-reflective journey.

01| Preparation

My therapist made me feel seen, not just as an individual but as an Asian American navigating complex family expectations.

We’ll work toward clarity, balance, and meaningful transformation. This may look like setting boundaries with compassion, rediscovering joy, or reclaiming the parts of yourself that were once silenced.

This is where healing becomes sustainable, and change becomes embodied.

02| Exploration

Together, we’ll explore your story. This includes your emotional experiences, family patterns, generational trauma, and cultural identity. Whether you’re unpacking grief, anxiety, or the pressures of being a model minority, we’ll move at your pace.

You’ll be invited to embrace your full self without judgment.
