I'm an independently licensed clinical social worker (LICSW), the founder of Dear Therapy, and someone deeply committed to culturally responsive care. As a Taishanese Chinese immigrant raised in Boston’s Chinatown, I bring both lived experience and clinical grounding to the work I do with BIPOC and immigrant communities.

Coaching gives me the space to connect and support people and organizations outside of traditional therapy, especially those who are seeking connection, clarity, and transformation. I was awarded 50th Year Anniversary Community Inspiration by Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, Donovan Award for Outstanding Leadership by Boston College, and Top 20 Community Leaders in 2020 by Boston Foundation. I’ve traveled to over 30 countries and have done community research projects and service trips from Port-or-Prince, Haiti, Pueblo, Mexico to Cape Town, South Africa. So I know a thing or two about alignment of action and vision. From starting a new business to traveling the world, I offer my knowledge and wisdom to guide you in your path to become the version that of you have always envision.

I’ve worked with leaders who are holding a lot, visibility, responsibility, cultural expectations, and often grief or burnout that goes unspoken. This space is meant to hold you too.

What to Expect in Coaching

Coaching with me is a space for reflection, clarity, and aligned action. It’s not therapy, and it’s not advice-giving. It’s a collaborative process rooted in presence, honesty, and your own capacity for transformation. It’s accountability with style, grounded in intrinsic motivation.

We’ll begin by learning about you, your life story, your dreams and aspirations. We’ll explore personal and business areas where you feel stuck and unfulfilled. We’ll discuss deep-rooted fear holding you back in achieving what you want. We will come up with strategic plans that will bring you closer to where you envision. If you don’t have a clear vision yet, that’s ok, we will figure that out too. Ultimately, this work is not a linear path, rather, it is a growth-mindset space of relentless learning despite barriers and setbacks.

  • No. Coaching is a private-pay service and is not eligible for insurance reimbursement. This allows us to work across state lines and outside clinical constraints. It also creates more flexibility in session structure, pacing, and scope, ideal for those seeking holistic, values-based support.

  • Yes, many clients benefit from doing both. Therapy and coaching can complement each other when roles are clear. If you already have a therapist, coaching with Dear Therapy can focus on leadership, emotional clarity, or wellness goals beyond clinical treatment.
